Midget LL Huskies Back in Action
On Oct. 16 the Durham Midget LL Huskies played their first game of the 2010-11 hockey season facing off against the Hanover Falcons at Hanover’s brand new arena.
In the first period, both teams came out strong and there was no score until just near the end of the period when the Falcons put one in to take a 1-0 lead.
Then in the second period the Huskies hit their stride, scoring three goals in a row, taking a 3-1 lead. Goal scorers were Ben Dow, Cole Hollands, and Hayden Sharpe, with assists going to Hollands, Kyle Schieven, Johannes Fredrickson and Travis Marshall. The Falcons managed one more goal in the third period, but the Huskies took the 3-2 win!
Next the Huskies travelled to Shallow Lake on Oct. 17, where they got a 4-0 win over the Shallow Lake Lakers. Goals were scored by Schieven, Sharpe, Marshall and Fredrickson, with assists by Justin Hooper, Hollands and Dow.
The Huskies last game of the week was their home debut against Tiverton on Oct. 18.
In the first period, Marshall scored the first goal on a power play, assisted by Cole Mackey, but Tiverton answered with a goal of their own a short 35 seconds later, tying the score 1-1. The score remained the same until the end of the third period, when, with just 2:14 left in the game, Brandon Stevens scored assisted by Marshall, making the final scored 2-1 and giving the Huskies their third win in a row! Keep up the good work Huskies!
