Triple Win for the Midget LL Huskies
The Durham Furniture Midget LL Huskies recently played three games and managed to win all three of them!
First the Huskies travelled to Port Elgin, on Nov. 22, to play the Saugeen Shores Storm 1. After a very well played game, the Huskies walked away with a 5-0 win over the Storm! Goals for the Huskies were scored by Brandon Stevens, Luke Ronka, Hunter Burgess and Chris Giles (2). Goalie Justin Paylor also received the shutout.
Next the Huskies faced the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs, at home, on Nov. 23.
Both teams came out trying very hard, resulting in a scoreless first period. Then in the second period Kyle Schieven scored, assisted by Cole Hollands and Jason Paylor, to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.
In the third period the Huskies continued to score, as Nathan Thompson and Brandon Stevens both put in goals, with assists by Ben Dow (2), Burgess, and Nate McGuigan. As the period was coming to an end, it looked as if goalie Spencer Bristow was going to get a shutout, but this was not to be as the Ice Dogs managed to get two goals. Schieven also managed to put in another goal, assisted by Jason Paylor and Giles to make the final score 4-2 for the Huskies!
Finally the Huskies played the Saugeen Shores Storm 2, at home once again, on Nov. 30.
First, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead just near the end of the first period when Seth DeBoer scored, assisted by Stevens, but the Storm managed to tie it up at the beginning of the second period. Then Burgess scored, assisted by Travis Marshall, to give the Huskies the lead again, but the Storm tied the score once more near the end of the period.
In the third period, the Storm managed to take a 3-2 lead, but the Huskies came back by getting two more goals before the period ended, one by Marshall, assisted by DeBoer and the other by DeBoer, assisted by Marshall and Ronka, to give them the 4-3 win. Awesome job Huskies!
