Midget LL Huskies Win, Lose and Draw
The McLean’s Home Hardware Midget LL Huskies recently played four games, winning one, tying one and losing two.
First they took on the Mount Forest Rams, on Nov. 7, which was Durham Husky Day at the Durham Arena. Unfortunately the Huskies were defeated 9-1, with the lone goal being scored by Travis Marshall.
Next the Huskies faced the Saugeen Shores Storm 1, at home, on Nov. 9, and after losing their previous game, the Huskies were looking for a win.
In the first period, Seth DeBoer scored the first two goals, one being on a power play, with assists by Brandon Stevens, Kyle Schieven and Marshall. After that, the Storm managed one goal in an effort to keep the game close. Then, with just 0:33 seconds left in the period, Schieven scored, assisted by Nathan Thompson and a short seven seconds later, Thompson scored, assisted by Marshall and Stevens, to make the score 4-1 for the Huskies.
In the second period, DeBoer got another, assisted by Cayle Anderson and Nate McGuigan, followed by another goal by Schieven, assisted by Jesse Genereux. Then the Storm put in one more goal, but shortly after this, Marshall scored, assisted by Ben Dow, making the score 7-2 for the Huskies.
Although the Huskies already had a huge lead over the Storm, they still put in another three goals in the third period, while goaltender Spencer Bristow prevented the Storm from scoring anymore. DeBoer managed two more, with assists by Hunter Burgess, Schieven and Stevens, and Schieven got one more, unassisted, giving the Huskies a 10-2 win over the Storm.
The Huskies then travelled to Port Elgin, on Nov. 14, to play the Saugeen Shores Storm 2, but were defeated a close 3-2. Both goals for the Huskies were scored by Burgess, with assists going to Marshall (2) and DeBoer.
Finally, the Huskies challenged the Shallow Lake Lakers, at home, on Nov. 16 and what a challenge it was. Both teams tried so hard that the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The Huskies only goal was scored by Dow, with assists going to Chris Giles and Marshall.
