Midget LL Huskies Keep on Winning
Submitted By Darlene Melanson on Thursday, March 26, 2009
The Midget LL Huskies played their last two games of their round-robin playoff series this past week and won both of them using teamwork and much determination.

Both games were home games, the first being against the Saugeen Shores Storm, on Mar. 10.

The Storm took a very early lead in the first period, but it didn’t last long because shortly after Dylan Cremona began the scoring for the Huskies, unassisted. The Storm then managed to score three more goals, followed by Kyle Green, assisted by Curtis Caswell and Ken Campbell, getting the Huskies one more near the end of the period, making it 4-2 for the Storm.

In the second period, Green scored three more, with assists by Campbell and Caswell, to give the Huskies a short-lived 5-4 lead. The Storm then tied up the game to end the period 5-5.

In the third period the Huskies conquered by scoring two more goals, one by Chris Giles and the other by Nathan Thompson, with assists going to Luke Ronka, Green, and Caswell, while goalie Justin Paylor kept the Storm from getting anymore, for the Huskies to take the 7-5 win.

The second home game was against the Hanover Falcons, on Mar. 12.

The Huskies completely dominated the first period by scoring four goals. Goal-scorers were Green (2), Caswell, and J.J. Mallozzi, with assists by Ronka, Caswell (2), and Green. Paylor saved all the Falcons shots, preventing them from scoring at all.

However, in the second period the Falcons got their first of the game which was followed by a goal by Ronka, assisted by goalie Paylor, to end the period 5-1 for the Huskies.

The third period was a battle. It began with the Falcons scoring three more goals, followed by Green scoring two more before the end of the game, with assists by Ronka (2) and Brandon Stevens, to make the final score 7-4 for the Huskies. Good luck in the next round Huskies!
