January Frigid for Peewee Huskies

January scoring for the Peewee Huskies was as frigid as the temperatures outside, managing only 2 goals in 7 games.
The scoring drought began in the Shelburne Tournament as the locals played 3 hard fought, spirited games. They created many quality scoring chances that were thwarted by good goaltending and bad bounces, leaving nothing to show for their efforts, getting blanked in all 3 contests.
The power outage continued into the first round of the play-offs, against the top place Minto squad. Again, numerous opportunites were created in the 3 games played, in the best of 5 series but Durham was only rewarded once, when Logan Burgess tallied the lone, unassisted goal. The losses dispatched the Huskies from OMHA play downs.
The 29th of January had the locals back on the ice, this time in Wiarton, for round two of the play-off season, now competing for a WOAA championship. The sticks were frozen again as the Huskies could only dent the mesh once during the contest, when Burgess batted in a rebound created by Nate Duguay. Durham had the advantage in play and many excellent chances to score but couldn't shake the frost off their sticks, falling 2-1. The loss puts the locals behind the eight ball 1-0 in the best of 3 series. Game 2 is slated for Durham on February 3rd at 7:45 pm. with the 3rd game going Saturday the 7th in Wiarton at 3pm.
