Submitted By Todd Stoddart on Sunday, February 22, 2009
Don't read anymore, I'm watching NASCAR & the OSCARS, so I'm not doing anymore tonight!!!

So you looked anyway did ya!!!! Well alright, I did it!

Sunday February 15th

Returning home after a victory in Wiarton on Friday, the Huskies started slow again but finished with a flurry.  Wiarton scored the only marker of the first period, potting an even strength goal just three minutes in.  The game remained this way until the five minute mark of the second, Landon Halloway from Brady Becker & Nic Whiteside tied the game at ones.  Three minutes later, Jeffrey Aljoe put the Huskies ahead, again assisted by Becker & Whiteside.  The Huskies would score one more before the end of the period, Austin Hutcheson would score the eventual game winner, assisted by Becker and Noah Johnson.  Keeping the pressure on, Durham would add another just under two minutes in, Whiteside from Aljoe and Becker would get together for this one.  Wiarton pulled within two with ten minutes remaining but the Huskies would add three more before the end of the game to win convincingly 7-2.  Hutcheson with his second of the game from Whiteside & Dylan MacDonald, Johnson from Whiteside and MacDonald & Johnson again from Brody Medieros and Larsen Lorenz.  From everything I heard, the boys played well but again took some time to find their legs.

Friday Fenruary 20th

We traveled to Tara on Friday night to play the first game of a home and home vs Arran Elderslie.  Two and a half minutes into the game, the Huskies found themselves down 3-0.  A quick time out to refocus resulted in Noah Johnson picking up a rebound and firing it home to pull within two, assisted by Bryden Ridgeway and Austin Hutcheson.  AE responded a minute and a half later to go ahead by three again but Durham's Brady Becker from Dylan MacDonald & Nic Whiteside scored again and the period ended 4-2 AE.  The second period was a more complete period for the boys with Becker scoring unassisted to bring the game within one.  Jeffrey Aljoe would tie it up and then Noah Johnson scored the eventual winner to make it 5-4 Durham going into the third.  Assists on the last two goals went to MacDonald, Whiteside, Hutcheson & Johnson.   Durham would add two more quick goals, Hutcheson from Becker/Whiteside and Josh Jenkins from Johnson and the game would end 7-4 in favor of the Huskies. Our seemingly constant ability to get off to a slow start almost cost us dearly in this match but the boys managed to pull it together and overcome two, three-goal deficits.

Sunday February 22nd
No slow start to today's second end of the home & home.  The Huskies leading scorer Brady Becker continued his torrid scoring pace and put Durham ahead just 15 seconds in.  His shot from the point found it's way home, assisted by Nic Whiteside & Landon Holloway.  Durham continued to pressure and in the span of 52 seconds, Colton Stoddart found the net twice.  His first, a nice wrist shot over  the goalies left shoulder was assisted by Whiteside & Becker while he second, a scrum beside the net, was assisted by Holloway and Noah Johnson. Durham would manage a quick one early in the second, Whiteside picked up a rebound from a Johnson shot and slid it into the open net.  Dylan MacDonald assisted on this play.  The teams then skated evenly for about 23 minutes before Bryden Ridgeway capped off the game at the 4 minute mark of the third.  Whiteside & Holloway assisted.  Kudos for Lucas Ball who earned his 6th shutout of the season.
